Nokia builds their own Touch Screen Mobile with iPhone FeaturesTag : nokia , apple , iphone , smartphone
Nokia is developing their own mobile phone with a touch screen operation in the style of Apple’s iPhone. In a presentation at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference, Tom Libretto, the vice president of Forum Nokia, showed a picture of the new device. The first rumours surrounding a Nokia mobile with a touch screen already surfaced at the Nokia GoPlay last autumn, and now the production has been decided. The only technical detail known so far is that the new device should support Java.
Much criticism has arisen in terms of the design, which doesn’t stray too far from the iPhone. In the midst of the controversy it was forgotten Nokia was actually only announcing they had made their central OS Symbian S60 platform touch screen compatible. After the announcment, they of course unveiled a line of upcoming products, including various mobile phone and smartphones, that would contain the new feature.
Previously, Nokia categorically refused to implement touch screens because of their higher cost and large sensitivity. Now they have begun to comprehend the sex appeal and market potential of the Apple mobile, even if Libretto smugly remarked, “We already sold that many phones since dinner on Friday”, when told Apple had sold four million iPhones.
